‘A lover now becomes the bully in Cat Lewis’ installation space, cut off and alone from the other works that surround it. An embroider’s hoop beautifully stained with the spilt blood from a fat lip that fills phials for lipstick and ears with confessions uttered in the privacy of a snug, cosy, consuming armchair, confessional tales of horror and cruelty whispered through earphones to the listener alone seated comfortably as mother suggested. There is something more of fairy tales here, Snow White’s mother, casting pre-natal wishes: lips red as blood, hair dark as ebony, skin black and blue…’
